12 arrested, P1 million worth of illegal drugs seized in QC

Twelve persons were arrested and about P1 million worth of illegal drugs were seized by Novaliches police in Quezon City on Friday.

Novaliches police said around 4:10 pm its drug enforcement unit and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) implemented three search warrants against an alias Wayda, alias Baimen and alias Maranao due to violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 at No. 6 Kabuhayan/Florentina Street in Barangay Gulod.

Police said another suspect, alias Bilao, fired at the authorities as they were about to implement the search warrants. The suspect was immediately neutralized after a short shootout.

Around 184 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspect shabu weighing 150 grams estimated at P1 million were seized by police. Two kilos of marijuana worth P240,000 were also found.

Authorities confiscated a .38 caliber revolver without a serial number and loaded with two live ammo, two fired cartridge from a .38 caliber gun, and 11 cartridges from an unidentified gun from the suspects.

The nabbed suspects were identified as Waida Silongan alias Wahida/Wayda, Baimen Sarip alias Baimen, an alias Bilao, Kayna Maria Dominica Biol, Sohaimin Sela, Nino Oclarino, Letano Sela, Michale Lagrata, Marian Muhammad, Salama Silongan, Soraida Salli, and Bonna Silongan who is a minor.

"In compliance with Section 21, of R.A. 9165, the inventory and photographs of seized evidence were made at the place of arrest (...). However, DOJ ( Department of Justice) representative was not available and a certificate of no available prosecutor to witness the inventory proceedings was issued to the arresting officers," Novaliches police said in a report.

The suspects and confiscated items were brought to the Novaliches police station for investigation. The suspects were later sent to the Philippine National Police ( PNP) Crime Laboratory for drug tests and laboratory examination.
