February 7, 2018

Fourteen police officers, including their station commanders, in Pasay and Muntinlupa were relieved on the spot by National Capitol Region Police Director Oscar Albayalde Tuesday after he found them sleeping and drinking liquor while on duty.

In a statement by the National Police Region Police Office, Albayalde "caught personnel of Maricaban Police Community Precinct in Pasay sleeping and personnel of Sucat PCP (Police Community Precinct) drinking liquor while on duty.

"Albayalde immediately ordered the relief from post, stripping off of badges and disarming of the fourteen police officers including their station commanders and reassigned them to the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit in Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City for further investigation and disciplinary sanction, " the statement said.

“This would serve as stern warning to all Station Commanders and Chiefs of Police. Anyone of their men caught or observed sleeping or doing other things while on duty, everybody will suffer the consequences. I will not hesitate to impose the rules. It’s how discipline is implemented.” Albayalde said.

Albayalde also ordered the NCRPO “Red Team,” group of policemen designated to do random and surprise inspection to all police stations and police community precincts, to do the same.

“We must always make sure that every policeman is doing his corresponding task while on duty. This is our way of returning the public’s trust and confidence to the police,” Albayalde added. DMS
