2 Abu Sayyaf killed in Sulu clash

ZAMBOANGA CITY - Two Abu Sayyaf bandits were killed while two were wounded and captured following a firefight in the hinteralnds of Sulu, a military official said Tuesday.
Lt. Gen. Arnel Dela Vega, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief, said the clash happened around 5:08 a.m. Tuesday in Barangay Lihbug Kabaw, Panglima Estino, Sulu.
Dela Vega said the troops clashed with around 100 Abu Sayyaf bandits led by one-armed and senior bandit leader Radullan Sahiron and sub- leaders Idang Susukan and Almujer Yadah.
Dela Vega said no one was killed or wounded among the members of the 61st, 62nd and 64th Marine companies.
He said the troops recovered the remains of the two Abu Sayyaf bandits as well as a M653 rifle and a M-15 rifle from the battle site.
He said the two captured bandits were taken to Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista Station Hospital in Jolo, Sulu for proper medical attention.
The military is trying to rescue 10 remaining hostages being held by the Abu Sayyaf bandits in Sulu.
The hostages are one Dutch,one Vietnamese and eight Filipinos. DMS
