Two alleged members of a kidnap-for-ransom group died in a police encounter in Quezon City on Saturday night.
Brig. Gen. Danilo Macerin, Quezon City Police District director, said joint operatives from QCPD and Philippine National Police-Anti Kidnapping Group conducted an operation against Johnny Radaza, an alleged member of the Waray Waray KFR Group, for selling illegal firearms.
Macerin said a police acted as poseur-buyer and transacted with Radaza together with his companion at Sitio Veterans, Brgy. Bagong Silangan.
When the back-up operatives tried to arrest the suspects, they allegedly drew their firearms and fired at the policemen which prompted them to fire back.
The encounter resulted in the death of the two suspects.
Recovered from the suspects were assorted pistols and ammunition, 10 sachets of shabu, and their motorcycle.
“It appears that the suspects who are known member of Waray-Waray Kidnap for Ransom were responsible in series of kidnapping in the area of National Capital Region and subjected for intelligence and surveillance for almost six months by the personnel of PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group,” Macerin said.
