2 cops in Caloocan wanted for extortion, illegal detention

February 25, 2018

Authorities have launched manhunt operations against three suspects, including two police officers, for alleged extortion and illegal detention in Caloocan City.

Northern Police District identified the suspects as Police Officer 1 John Paul Bautista and PO1 Emerson Santillan, both members of Police Community Precinct 5, and a police asset named Christian Fernandez.

According to reports, the arresting officers picked up the victim identified as Joel Manansala for alleged violation of Republic Act No 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 last February 20 inside a house in Cielito Village, Brgy 177, Camarin 2.

Manansala was arrested without warrant and the officers also allegedly took his television set and cash amounting to P3,000.

While at the precinct, one of the arresting officers allegedly demanded P300,000 from him to avoid being charged criminally.

The Counter-Intelligence Task Force received a complaint from Manansala's wife.

CITF conducted an entrapment operation that resulted to release of Manansala.

The victim has no record of arrest in the said precinct while the two arresting officers failed to report for work since February 21. Ella Dionisio/DMS
