2 cops positive for illegal drug use to be dismissed – Sinas
January 17, 2021
Two patrolmen will be dismissed from service after they were found positive for illegal drug use, the chief of the Philippine National Police said on Sunday.
General Debold Sinas said Patrolman Reyland Lacap Intal of Olongapo City Mobile Force Company and Patrolman Benhur Ismael of the 2nd Sulu Provincial Mobile Force Company have been disarmed and placed under restrictive custody by their respective units.
Intal was confirmed positive for marijuana during a random drug test conducted last January 15 after the arrest of four police officers from Olongapo City Police Office (OCPO) for allegedly protecting a drug suspect in Subic.
Meanwhile, Ismael tested positive for methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu after screening and confirmatory tests were completed on January 14.
"If left undetected, these two police rookies will continue with their drug use and perhaps influence others. They will have to go because there is no place for addicts in the PNP," Sinas said.
Sinas ordered the pre-charge investigation and summary dismissal proceedings against the two police non-commissioned officers (PNCO).
Both police rookies are now facing administrative cases filed before the regional investigative bodies. Ella Dionisio/DMS
