2 drug suspects nabbed, P3.7M shabu seized in Taguig City buy-bust

December 8, 2018

Authorities have seized an estimated P3.7 million worth of "shabu" from two arrested drug suspects, whose boss was said to be an inmate at the Metro Manila District Jail, police said on Saturday.

National Capital Region Police Office Director Guillermo Eleazar said a joint buy-bust operation was conducted at around 10:30pm on Friday at No. 28, Hagonoy St., Brgy. Manuel L. Quezon in Taguig City.

He identified the arrested suspects as Jayson Esguerra, 24, and Rodolf Dejos, 39.

“We had a development of this case through our intelligence monitoring that a big group is distributing shabu in large quantities so we initiate a surveillance and other police operation that resulted (to this) buy-bust operation last night,” he said in a statement.

He said the two arrested suspects were newly identified drug personalities and the drugs allegedly came from their companion in Batangas.

“Accordingly, the drugs came from the suspects’ cohort in Batangas but the one giving them command for their drug transactions is currently detained at the Metro Manila District Jail,” Eleazar said.

“After being jailed for murder, their boss associated with the other drug groups inside the prison and that’s when he started engaging in illegal drug transactions,” he added.

The anti-narcotics agents were able to recover 100 grams of illegal drugs worth around P175,000.00 and after the transaction, they recovered six tie-knotted plastic packs, containing suspected shabu, weighing around 525 grams valued at P3,570,000.00, and 150 pieces of Valium 10, an anti-depressant drug, amounted to P12,000.

“So, we consider this significant accomplishment considering that the area of operation is here in southern part of Metro Manila and Rizal province and considering that this is just near the area of Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City,” Eleazar said.

The suspects were brought to Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig and will face charges for selling of dangerous drugs, possession, and conspiracy under the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Ella Dionisio/DMS
