2 killed as crane falls from construction site in Pasay: police

At least two persons were killed while six were injured when a crane at a construction site fell on a commercial building in Pasay Monday afternoon.
Chief Supt. Tomas Apolinario, Southern Police District director, said the mishap occurred while a crane tower was being set up in the construction site of the STI Academic Center building at P. Calle St., corner Edsa extension in Pasay City.
Crane operator Jonathan Diserdo, 32, of Monocrete Construction was declared dead on arrival at the San Juan de Dios Hospital. Ronnie Rey Delos Santos was killed when the crane tower fell down and crushed him.
The boom hit the adjacent Core Town building, injuring six persons and damaging several parked vehicles.
Apolinario said injured were five Filipinos and a Chinese national identified as Liu Shen Xiu, 30, who was in the comfort room at the fourth floor of Core Town building. They were rushed to the same hospital for treatment.
Pasay police cordoned off the area causing heavy traffic. DMS
