2 soldiers hurt in Bohol clash

Two soldiers were wounded in an encounter with the armed lawless elements in Bohol on Tuesday morning.
Capt. Eduardo Precioso Jr., Army’s 3rd Infantry Division, Public Affairs Office Chief, said the troops were responding to the reported presence of armed group members when they encountered some 14 armed men at the vicinity of Brgy. Campagao, Bilar, Bohol around 4:30am.
“The troops were responding to reports on the presence of unidentified armed group asking for food in the said village and were fired upon by the fully-armed groups which invoke the troops to fire back,” he said.
“We are yet to determine the identity of the said armed group but we are looking into the possibility of this as an election-related incident for it happened during the election period,” he added.
Precioso said two soldiers were slightly wounded because of the clash that lasted for an hour.
He said that during the clearing operation, the government troops also recovered one UZI with two magazines, four magazines of AK-47, 14 tents or laminated sacks , medical supplies, and subversive documents with high intelligence value.
