2 soldiers wounded in battle vs alleged NPA in Sorsogon

Two soldiers were wounded in an encounter with alleged New People's Army (NPA) in Sorsogon on Monday.
In a report, Sorsogon provincial police said soldiers from 31st Infantry Battalion were conducting combat operation when they encountered around 15 rebels at the vicinity of Sitio Kabungahan, Trece Martirez, Casiguran around 8:40 am.
Police identified the wounded soldiers as Corporal. Jerome Tu and Private First Class . Mart Maximo Osanida.
The rebels reportedly withdrew towards the southwest after a fire fight that lasted for about 10 minutes.
Police units in the area conducted checkpoint operations for possible apprehension of the fleeing attackers. Robina Asido/DMS
