The Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) on Saturday confiscated P54.4-million worth of illegal drugs from a major drug distribution network that supplies illegal drugs from Metro Manila to Mindanao.
PNP chief General Debold Sinas said operatives from PDEG conducted a buy-bust operation near a mall in Parañaque City which resulted to the arrest of two drug suspects.
Confiscated were eight kilos of high-grade shabu with estimated value of P54.4 million.
Sinas said the arrested suspects were known to be regular carriers of shabu from Manila to Mindanao. He added the suspects were part of a large group of drug traffickers composed mostly of natives from Mindanao currently based in Southern Metro Manila.
“The successful drug buy-bust on Saturday is one among the initial salvo of Case Operation Plan (COPLAN) Blood Stone launched by PDEG purposely to break the backbone of this major drug distribution network,” PNP chief said.
According to BGen Ronald Lee, PDEG director, the operation stemmed from the COPLAN wherein Muslim traders were reported to be engaged in the illegal drug trade.
Lee said a criminal complaint for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act is being prepared against the suspects for filing before the prosecutor’s office. Ella Dionisio/DMS
