23 inmates break out of custodial facility in Cavite, 18 recovered

Twenty three detainees escaped a custodial facility in General Mariano Alvarez (GMA) municipality, Cavite early Sunday morning but five remain unaccounted for, police said.
The Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) said around 1:39 am at Custodial Facility Center of the GMA municipal police station a duty jailer noticed some detainees were attempting to escape, prompting him to immediately inform the police.
The inmates managed to create a hole in the wall of their cell using metal parts from their electric fan while the jail guards are eating.
Of the 23 escapees, thirteen were held at checkpoints while five were arrested during manhunt operations.
Manhunt by two tracker teams of GMA Municipal Police Station assisted by a mobile patrol unit and Special Weapons and Tactics of the Cavite police are ongoing to recover the five inmates. Ella Dionisio/DMS
