Last week, the health department said 24 evacuees died. The latest report said over 8,000 evacuees got sick or injured. Of the 8,052 cases, a total of 2,013 are in hospitals and medical facilities. Some 1,891 have been been discharged. The remaining 4,148 sought consultation but did not need to stay in the hospital. The top causes of illnesses were upper respiratory tract infections, skin disease, hypertension, acute respiratory infection, and acute watery diarrhea. Fighting between the military and the Maute group began in May 23, forcing nearly 40,000 families in Marawi to flee to neighboring towns, mainly Iligan City. DMS
