294 new COVID-19 cases reported, lowest in a month
July 2, 2020
The Department of Health (DOH) Thursday reported 294 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, the second lowest new case for the past month.
Total number of COVID-19 cases are now at 38,805.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the low number of cases can be attributed to earlier cut-off temporarily by the DOH Epidemiology Bureau.
"It could be due to the adjustment of our time in extracting data from the systen. From the previous 24 hours, we now have 19 hours worth of data as we transition into a new process," said Vergeire in a televised press briefing.
The DOH said there were 52 fresh cases, or test results that came out and validated by its DOH - Epidemiology Bureau in the last three days. Other regions accounted for 25 cases, followed by repatriates, 17 and NCR, 10.
There were 242 considered as late cases, or those whose results came out four days ago or more but were recently validated by the DOH. Central Visayas got the biggest number of cases with 164 followed by NCR, 50, and repatriates, 28.
Four deaths were recorded bringing the total to 1,274.
There were 235 patients that overcame COVID-19, pushing the aggregate to 10, 673. DMS
