3 killed, 23 hurt as bus bursts into flames after colliding with truck

Three people were killed and 23 injured after a bus burst into flames after it hit the rear end of a cargo truck along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) in Concepcion, Tarlac causing both vehicles to land in a five-meter deep creek on Tuesday.
In a report, the Central Luzon regional police said the accident happened at around 11:50 p.m. along the northbound lane of the expressway in Barangay Sto. Nino. It was reported to the police at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Superintendent Augusto Pasamonte, Concepcion town police chief, said a Fuso truck driven by Emmanuel Retardo, 46, came from the emergency lane when it was hit by a Five Star bus, which was headed to Dagupan City.
“We have yet to identify the fatalities,” Pasamonte said in an interview over dzMM.
Retardo and his helper Victo Ayen, 40, were among the injured. The bus driver identified as 50-year-old Rolando Untalan and 20 passengers were also hurt. The injured were brought to different hospitals. Robina Asido/ DMS
