41,439 taxis, TNVS allowed to ply routes

There are 41,639 units which were approved to ply their routes by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) inMetro Manila starting Monday.


There are 22,230 Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) units and 19,409 taxis.


The return of taxis and TNVS is in line with Memorandum Circular (MC) 2020-018 or ang “Guidelines for the Operations of Taxis and TNVS during the Period of GCQ.”


LTFRB said there were no fare hikes for the approved taxi and TNVS units and cashless transactions will be the mode of payment.


Passengers must wear face masks at all times.


The LTFRB reminds operators and drivers of taxis and TNVS to follow the protocols in MC 2020-018 to prevent the spread of COVID-19 like wearing face mask and gloves, cleaning and disinfecting units before or after every trip or every two hours, placing a non-permeable at transparent barrier, and compliance by passenger seating capacity according to guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) and the Department of Transportation.
