5.4 quake jolts Occidental Mindoro

A magnitude 5.4 earthquake hit the province of Occidental Mindoro on early Sunday morning.

According to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the epicenter of the tremor was recorded at 20 kilometers east of Lubang, Occidental Mindoro around 3:18 am.

The earthquake which was tectonic in origin has a recorded depth of 076 km.

Intensity V was recorded at Lubang, Occidental Mindoro, Intensity IV at Taal and Lemery, Batangas; General Trias and City of Imus, Cavite; Obando, Bulacan; Makati City, City of Manila, Navotas City, Las Piñas City and Parañaque City; Intensity III at Looc and Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro; Calapan City & Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; Calatagan and Lipa City, Batangas; Malabon City, Mandaluyong City, Pasay City, Pateros, Quezon City, Marikina City, Pasig City, Muntinlupa City, Valenzuela City and Taguig City; Tagaytay City, Bacoor City and Dasmariñas City, Cavite; Meycauayan and San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan; Lubao, Pampanga; Intensity II at San Juan City and Caloocan City; Gapan City, Palayan City and Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija; Baler, Aurora; Alaminos City, Pangasinan; and Intensity I at San Jose City and Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija; and Guinayangan, Quezon.

Meanwhile, Instrumental Intensity IV were also recorded at Calatagan, Batangas; Malolos City, and San Ildefonso, Bulacan; and Navotas City; Intensity III at Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro; Talisay, Batangas; Bacoor City, and Tagaytay City, Cavite; Muntinlupa City; and Guagua, Pampanga; Intensity II at Magalang, Pampanga; and San Juan City; Intensity I - San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Palayan City, and San Jose City, Nueva Ecija; Gumaca, Quezon; and Baler, Aurora.

Prior to this quake, a magnitude 4.2 and 2.5 hit Calatagan, Batangas.
