6.5 magnitude quake hits Jaro, Leyte

A 6.5 magnitude earthquake jolted Jaro, Leyte Thursday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology ( Phivolcs) said.
The tremblor was felt eight kilometers southwest of Jaro, at 4:03 pm. There were no immediate reports of casualties but Phivolcs said damage is expected.
Phivolcs, in its bulletin, said the quake has a a depth of two kilometers. Its origin was tectonic, it added.
Intensity V was felt at Tacloban City; Palo, Leyte; Ormoc City and Cebu City.
Initial report also showed intensity IV were felt Tolosa, Leyte; Sagay City, Negros Occidental and Burgos, Surigao del Norte while intensity III in Bogo City, Cebu and Calatrava, Negros occidental.
Intensity II was also felt in Libjo, San Jose, Cagdianao and Dinagat Islands. Intensity I was recorded in Roxas City; La Carlota City and Negros Occidental. Ella Dionisio/DMS
