6 cops, 2 persons nabbed for alleged extortion from motorists in Nueva Ecija

Six Nueva Ecija policemen and two civilians were arrested in an entrapment operation by a task force of the Philippine National Police (PNP) after allegations they were extorting money from traveling motorists in a checkpoint.
In a statement, the PNP Counter Intelligence Task Force said they apprehended the six cops and two civilians at 1:20 am on Tuesday at Barangay Digdig, Caranglan.Arrested were SPO1 Antonito Otic, PO3 Danilo Sotelo, PO3 Ronald Buncad, PO3 Oliver Antonio, PO2 Rodrigo Edralin, and PO2 Romeo Nuñez III.
Arrested were Ramon Cabilangan and Darwin Lagisma, who acted as collectors and are visible manning the checkpoint
Confiscated from them were money in different denominations while their issued firearms and other personal property were turned-over to their superior officers
One Ranger Cal. 45 and one Armscor 9mm with one magazine each loaded with ammo were confiscated and seized from SPO1 Antonio Otic and PO3 Oliver Antonio. The firearms was issued by Caranglan municipality.
The arrested persons are under the custody of Counter Intelligence Task Force personnel to be brought to the Philippine National Police for documentation and filing of case. DMS
