66% of Filipinos do not favor shift to federalism: Pulse Asia

Sixty-six percent of Filipinos are not in favor of changing the present system of government to a federal system, a Pulse Asia survey said Wednesday.
"The prevailing sentiment among Filipinos is one of opposition to replacing the present unitary system of government to a federal one," said Pulse Asia.
Majority levels of opposition are posted in each geographic areas and socio-economic class54 percent to 75 percent and 60 to 71 percent, respectively.
" More specifically, 36 percent of Filipinos are against such a shift in the system of government, whether now or in the future," the pollster said.
Support for federalism is more marked in Metro Manila, the Visayas and Mindanao ( 33 percent to 42 percent) than in the rest of Luzon ( 17 percent). DMS
