March 13, 2019
Cavite Provincial Police chief Senior Superintendent William Segun relieved seven police officers for alleged misconduct after his surprised inspection in various stations early Wednesday morning.
Segun, who started the round at around 2am, said he caught several cops from three municipal police stations sleeping while on duty, not wearing their proper uniforms and absent during the inspection.
According to a police report, the officers caught sleeping include a precinct commander assigned in General Trias and three cops assigned in Rosario.
An officer wearing improper, untidy and crumpled uniform was also caught in General Trias.
Two policewomen from Kawit and General Trias were absent during the inspection.
“They will be relieved from their present assignment and assigned in provincial admin holding unit (PHAU) then precharge investigation will be conducted before they could be penalized,” Segun said in a text message to Manila Shimbun.
Senior Superintendent Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson, said the relief of the cops showed the organization’s intense internal cleansing.
“They will face administrative proceedings and will be given appropriate administrative and disciplinary sanctions,” Banac said in a separate text message to Manila Shimbun.
“Again, our chief PNP General Oscar Albayade is sending his message to the public that the PNP will serve faithfully on our sworn duty and will not tolerate any wrong doings,” he added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
