Seven people died while eight including a soldier, were injured in a road accident in Misamis Oriental Monday night. A military source under Army’s 2nd Mechanized Brigade said a collision accident involving a Simba fighting vehicle and a Toyota Hilux van occurred at the vicinity of Poblacion, Manticao around 8:45 pm. Sources said based on initial report, the troops on board the armored vehicle were on their way to Laguindingan Airport to pick up military supplies. “The van is going to Iligan. They (both) come from opposite direction, so they got into a head on collision,” sources said. Sources confirmed the accident has resulted in the death of seven civilians and the injuries of eight, including a soldier. “Initially the casualty is five civilians… then one is dead on arrival at the hospital and another one died at the hospital so it’s a total of seven,” sources said. The military has not given details on the cause of the accident and to determine who committed a mistake between the two vehicles as the case is being investigated by the Philippine National Police.
