73 Chinese, 3 Filipinos caught allegedly gambling in Cagayan

BAGUIO CITY – Authorities in Cagayan Valley caught 73 Chinese nationals and three Filipinos in a raid at a hotel allegedly being used as an online casino Tuesday night in Sta Ana town, Cagayan.
Brig. Gen. Crizaldo Nieves, the Cagayan Valley police director, said they were caught gambling via online inside Villa Saturnina Hotel and Resort at sitio Rafat, Brgy. Rapuli, Sta. Ana.
Nieves claimed the hotel owned by OFA Cagayan Estate Developer Corp., owned by Frank Yu, is used as a front for illegal online gambling.
OFA Cagayan Estate Developer Corp., Nieves added, did not secure any permit or license to operate online gambling.
Yu was not present during the raid but will be hunted, said Nieves.
At least 48 laptop computers, eight desktop computers, a mother server, two inverters, eight extension wires and a router used in the illegal online gambling operation were seized.
The 73 Chinese nationals and the three Filipinos, whose names were not revealed by Nieves, were brought to the Sta. Ana police station for booking and will be facing violations of Presidential Decree 1602 as amended by RA 9287 (illegal gambling) in relation to Section 6, Chapter 2 of RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012) violations.
