74% oppose the return of martial law: Pulse Asia
January 11, 2017
Seventy-four percent of Filipinos oppose the return of martial law to solve various problems being faced by the country, polling firm Pulse Asia said Wednesday.
In a survey, Pulse Asia said the 74 percent response “is the prevailing opinion in all geographic areas, socio-economic classes and age groupings as well as among men and women .”
The poll, conducted on December 6-11 with a sample size of 1,200, showed an increase of 10 percentage points in
responses over this issue last September. The response then was 64 percent.
It said disagreement is “more marked” among Metro Manilans with 81 percent.
Among age groups, those who disagreed that martial law should be imposed are highest among the 25-34 bracket and 45-54 category, both with 77 percent.
Those who experienced the martial law period from 1972 to 1986, which are the 55-64 age group and the 65 and up class, tallied 70 percent and 76 percent, respectively. DMS
