November 8, 2017
Bureau of Immigration (BI) intelligence operatives arrested Tuesday night in Makati City 81 Chinese nationals suspected of involvement in cyber crimes and operating an illegal online gaming business.
BI acting spokesman Grifton Medina said the foreigners were rounded inside their units at the Burgundy Corporate Tower along Gil Puyat Avenue by agents from the bureau’s fugitive search unit.
Medina said the arresting team accidentally found the aliens in an operation to capture four Chinese fugitives wanted by Beijing authorities for involvement in economic crimes.
Ordered arrested were Cheng Sheng Feng, 40; Tu Kangte, 30; Liu Yinan, 27; and Fang Hao, who are all in the wanted list of China’s Ministry of Public Security.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre said the aliens will be investigated for possible violation of the anti-cybercrime law and operating an online gaming business without permits.
Immigration violation charges for working in the country without permits will also be filed against them before the BI, Aguirre said. DMS
