Senator Grace Poe's father-in-law Teodoro Llamanzares was injured after his car fell from the 3rd level of the Promenade car park at Greenhills in San Juan City Sunday morning.
A police report from Eastern Police District said the driver, Teodoro Paraiso Llamanzares, 83 years old, was about to park at the fourth level when he accidentally stepped on the accelerator of his vehicle while at the 3rd level of the parking area.
According to the witnesses, his car plunged after continuously accelerating towards the railings of the parking area at 9:45 am.
Llamanzares was immediately brought by the responding team at Cardinal Santos Medical Center.
In a statement, Senator Grace Poe said his father-in-law suffered a few fractured ribs and bruises as he was wearing a seat belt when the incident happened.
"Thankfully my father-in-law, Dr. Teodoro Paraiso Llamanzares, is alright and no one else was hurt in the incident. It's a good thing he was wearing his seat belt so he only has a few fractured ribs and bruises, but we expect a speedy recovery," Poe said in a statement.
"We want to thank everyone for their prayers and concern. We're just thankful he was kept safe and no one else was injured," she said. Ella Dionisio/DMS
