92 police trainees, training officers among new COVID-19 cases in Baguio
October 1, 2020
Baguio City Police on Thursday said 92 police trainees and training officers were among the new COVID-19 cases in the city.
“As of yesterday, there are already 92. These trainees- what is saddening is they are the ones who were with us since the start of the pandemic,” said Col. Allen Rae Co, Baguio City police chief, in a radio interview.
“These are combination of police trainees and field training officers,” he said.
Co said the police trainees were sent to Baguio City last March for their field training program.
“They are supposedly graduating yesterday or today because they reached their six-month (training period)… Most probably they contracted it from their duty in lockdown areas,” he said.
A news report said around 200 trainees were placed on quarantine after they were identified as close contacts of a COVID-19 patient.
As of September 30, Baguio City has recorded 947 COVID-19 cases with 427 active cases, 12 deaths and 508 patients have recovered.
On Thursday, Baguio allowed visitors from the Ilocos Region to enter the city. Ella Dionisio/DMS
