Abu Sayyaf bandit collared in Basilan

The joint military and police forces arrested on Saturday an alleged member of the terrorist Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in a manhunt operation conducted in Basilan province.
Police Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, Police Region 9 Public Information Office chief, identified the arrested terrorist as Masser Lim Omar, 57, a resident of Barangay Panigayan, Malamawi Island, Isabela City, Basilan.
Galvez said the military and police forces were conducting manhunt operation when Omar was captured at the said barangay around 2:30 am.
She said Omar was apprehended by virtue of warrant of arrest for kidnapping and serious illegal detention with ransom involving Tumahubong kidnapping incident in March 2000.
Galvez said the suspect's warrant of arrest was issued by Branch 261, Regional Trial Court, National Capital Judicial Region, Pasig City last April 27, 2004 which was further subscribed by Regional Prosecutor Atty. Peter Medalle, with no bail bond recommended.
After the arrest, Omar was brought to Isabela City Police Station for proper booking and disposition. Robina Asido/DMS
