Abu Sayyaf bandits free son of Zambo Norte town mayor

ZAMBOANGA CITY - The Abu Sayyaf on Sunday have released the son of a town mayor they abducted more than one year and three months ago in Zamboanga del Norte.
Released was Jed Quimbo, 28, son of Mayor Eddie Quimbo of Labason, Zamboanga del Norte.
The Sulu Provincial Police Office said the younger Quimbo was released around 4 pm in Barangay Anuling, Patikul, Sulu.
Police said Quimbo was handed over to his brother, Justin, and former Sulu Gov. Abdusakur Tan.
Police said Quimbo was presented to the Joint Task Force Sulu for medical check-up and debriefing. Police did not say if ransom was paid.
Quimbo was seized in front of his store in the market during the evening of September 6, 2017 in Barangay Poblacion, Labason, Zamboanga del Norte. DMS
