AFP cites strong links with PNP in arrest of Egyptian

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said the arrest of a suspected foreign terrorist in Manila last Friday shows the strong collaboration between the military and police forces.
“This inspiring result of the joint AFP- PNP (Philippine National Police) operation is a testimony not only of the resolve of government to monitor, deters, and defeat terrorists and their infrastructure. It also a proof of what a robust intelligence sharing and collaboration can do to keep our nation and its people safe,” Col. Edgard Arevalo, AFP spokesman, said Monday.
“The AFP and the PNP continue to sound the call for the sustained vigilance, cooperation, and active involvement with your security forces to strengthen our defense posture against terrorists and criminal elements,” he added.
Fehmi Lassoued, an Egyptian, was arrested by joint military and police forces in a law enforcement operation in Malate, Manila was presented by the PNP on Monday morning.
Lassoued and his Filipina companion Anabel Moncera Salipada were apprehended when the search warrant was served last Friday.
According to the PNP, Lassoued, who had a Tunisian passport, is believed to be a member of an international terrorist organization. Robina Asido/DMS
