The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) honors the Filipino workforce, specially the frontliners as the nation celebrates Labor Day Friday amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The Armed Forces of the Philippines salutes the nation’s noble workers, especially those in the frontline battling the COVID-19 pandemic during this year’s Labor Day. Your diligence, determination, and hard work continue to inspire the Filipino nation in these difficult and trying times," AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Felimon Santos Jr. said in a statement on Thursday.
"We are at war against an unconventional enemy that continues to plague our countrymen that includes the labor force, yet the spirit of resiliency lives on," he said.
"Day by day, the AFP bear witness to the admirable courage of the Filipino workforce as they risk their lives to win over the many challenges we face today," he added.
Santos also honored "the unwavering resolve of our uniformed service members".
"This day is also for you, as you continue to take on the task of combatting head on not only the dreaded disease but also the virus of communist terrorism and violent extremism," he said.
"Rest assured that your AFP will continue with its initiatives to protect the best interest and well-being of our workforce, particularly those in the frontlines," said Santos.
"Our people’s health will always be of utmost importance to us as we protect the country’s most valuable asset in achieving just and lasting peace and development," he added. Robina Asido/DMS
