AFP says Duterte’s P10m bounty for Hapilon “is a big help”
June 6, 2017
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Eduardo Ano said the bounty offered by President Rodrigo Duterte for the neutralization of Isnilon Hapilon and the Maute Brothers is a big help for the military. “Yes a lot of information has arrived and these were now given actions by our troops. The reward offered is a big help,” said Ano. “Because of this the civilians and the relatives of Maute they may also give us information, and off course let us give reward to those who will give extra effort,” he added. But Ano admitted only 10 percent of the information are helpful. “Normally out of the (total) number of information only around 10 percent of these have value, all the rest are hearsay but we have our intelligence personnel who knows how to address this kind of calls,” he said. Just last Monday, the military announced that President Rodrigo Duterte has offered 10 million pesos bounty for the neutralization of Isnilon Hapilon, “the taunted Emir of ISIS in the Philippines.” While five million each were also offered for the neutralization of the Maute brothers, identified as Abdullah and Omar Maute, who are the leader of the local terrorist group that occupied some portions of Marawi City since last month.
