The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) expressed gratitude to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for the two million pesos reward for people who will provide information leading to the neutralization of New People's Army (NPA) commanders.
"Thanks to the President for the commitment to give rewards to those who will provide information (leading to the neutralization of top Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) leaders). That will add up to the existing AFP Rewards System," said A FP Chief of Staff General Felimon Santos, Jr. on Tuesday.
"Our Kababayans (citizen) who have been providing the AFP significant information leading to our recent decisive operations (against the communist terror groups) will be twice benefitted thereby," he said.
"(Its) good news for the AFP. That will be an additional reward for those informants aside on what is already on the AFP Reward system. This will bring in more informants. Thanks to PRRD ( President Rodrigo Roa Duterte) for the additional incentives," Santos said.
Santos vowed that "the AFP will ensure the safety of informants."
"They will not just be relieved from the lingering pestering presence of the NPA, our Kababayans can even cash in on the report that they will give to the AFP," he said.
"And ultimately, they will get rid of the menace this terrorist NPA brings in their lives," he added.
Santos expressed confidence that the military will able to finis the armed conflict before the end of the term of the current administration on June 2022.
"National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) is doing great on its mandate on the whole of nation approach and if it continues with what it is doing, we will attain ending communist armed conflict," he said.
"For the AFP, we are gaining ground in reducing the NPAs in all over the country. With the whole of nation approach thru NTF ELCAC and AFPs focused on NPAs, I am confident that we will end the communist armed conflict before the end of PRRDs term," he added. Robina Asido/DMS
