AirAsia Philippines to mount flights to Osaka starting second semester of 2018

The Philippine unit of Southeast Asia’s largest budget airline said it would mount flights to Osaka, Japan from Manila in the second semester of 2018.
Captain Dexter Comendador, AirAsia Philippines chief executive said the airline has entitlements of 14 flights per week between Osaka and Manila.
“We are planning to use it in the second semester of the year,” he added. Comendador did not say what month will flights to Osaka will start.
AirAsia also plans to add international flights from Clark International Airport to Korea, Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore in 2018.
AirAsia launched commercial flights at Clark in 2012 before transferring its hub to Metro Manila following a strategic partnership with ZestAir in 2013.
Last year, the airline posted P10.81 billion in revenues, up 21 percent from P8.93 billion in 2015.
The company said it is likely to post a profit this year from a net loss of P3.05 billion in 2016.
AirAsia Philippines operates a fleet of 17 aircraft with domestic and international flights out of hubs in Manila, Cebu and Kalibo.
Malaysia’s Air Asia, through AA International, owns 40 percent of Philippines’ Air Asia Inc., while Filipinos Marriane Hontiveros, Michael Romero, Antonio Cojuangco and Alfredo Yao hold the remaining 60 percent. DMS
