Albayalde says the PNP did not open ”drug queen” issue
September 28, 2019
Police General Oscar Albayalde on Saturday said it is not the Philippine National Police ( PNP) who started the issue on the “drug queen”.
The PNP chief made the statement after Senator Richard Gordon said the PNP is using the alleged drug queen as diversionary tactic to hide the issue on “ninja cops”.
“We did not name that. We did not start the drug queen (issue), remember that. We did not open it. It’s not the PNP,” he said.
Albayalde said the naming of the drug queen happened because the PNP especially the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is being blamed for everything.
Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar, the NCRPO chief, identified the alleged drug queen as Guia Castro. Castro, said Eleazar, left for Bangkok on September 21.
“Well, in the first place, they should have not mentioned (her) because we are being blamed for that especially the NCRPO,” he said.
“The Regional Director of NCRPO only reacted but we did not open that topic. Remember it's not the PNP,” he said, adding the drug queen was only mentioned because of the accusation of alleged rampant of illegal drugs.
The Senate Blue Ribbon and Justice committee will resume their hearing on the anomalies inside the New Bilibid Prison, including illegal drugs, on October 1.
Albayalde earlier said he is ready to face the inquiry. Ella Dionisio/DMS
