Alejano assures military Magdalo not involved in alleged ouster vs Duterte

September 28, 2018

Magdalo Partylist Rep. Gary Alejano met with top officials of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to deny  rumors he and his group are involved in an alleged plot to oust President Rodrigo Duterte.

Brig. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr, assistant AFP deputy chief of staff for operations, said Friday Alejano met AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Carlito Galvez, and later with him in Camp Aguinaldo on Wednesday.

Alejanao, a former Marine captain, was among the leaders of the Magdalo Group that staged the Oakwood mutiny in July 2003 against then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

"He cleared his name and that of Magdalo. He committed that they are not going to be involved with the communists, with any plot of the communist to oust President Duterte," said Parlade..

"I said it's good. I told him you are part of the opposition. It's okay to bring up issues but not connive with the communists because they (communists) are for violence. He gave the commitment that they are not talking with them because they are our long-time enemy," added Parlade.

Parlade said Alejano told Galvez  "that they are not going to be involved with the communists."

Duterte said the Magdalo Group and the opposition Liberal Party are in cahoots with the Communist Party of the Philippines/New People's Army in the Red October ouster plot. DMS
