Alleged Abu Sayyaf arrested in Zamboanga City

An alleged member of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) was arrested in Zamboanga City on Tuesday afternoon, police said Wednesday.
Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, public affairs officer chief of the regional police office, said the arrested terrorist is Langa Jamil Francisco alias Teng, a resident of Brgy Tetuan, Zamboanga City.
She said Francisco is a member of ASG based in the province of Basilan.
Galvez said combined elements from 904th Mobile Company of the regional mobile force battalion 9 with the regional intelligence unit were conducting campaign against wanted persons when the terrorist was arrested at the vicinity of Brgy Sta. Barbara about 3:30 pm.
“The ASG member is now temporarily detained at Regional Intelligence Unit 9 for proper disposition,” she said.
Galvez said Francisco was arrested by virtue of warrant of arrest by Judge Leo Jay Principe of the Regional Trial Court of Isabela, Basilan for kidnapping and serious illegal detention. Robina Asido/DMS
