Alleged Abu Sayyaf involved in 2001 plantation kidnap arrested

ZAMBOANGA CITY - Police have arrested an alleged Abu Sayyaf member charged for eight counts of kidnapping connected with an abduction in a plantation 17 years ago.
The arrest of Puyat Saiyadi in the island town of Patah, Sulu came five days after two other alleged Abu Sayyaf members were arrested at a shopping mall in this city.
Chief Supt. Billy Beltran, regional police director, said Saiyadi was arrested by plainclothesmen and warrant servers of police station 4 around 10 a.m. Wednesday at Plaza Pershing.
Beltran said Saiyadi has a warrant of arrest from a Basilan court for eight counts of kidnapping with serious illegal detention with no bail recommended.
Nine civilians were beheaded and one shot dead as 30 farm workers were abducted by the Abu Sayyaf in Lantawan, Basilan in June 11 2001.
Arrested on January 12 were Emran Ismael, who has the aliases of Bantong Basinti and Bantong Basiri; and, Bryan Mohammad alias Pojong Attiun.
They were arrested here around 9:15 p.m. Friday at a shopping mall along La Purisima Street, Barangay Zone III. DMS
