Government troops captured an alleged Abu Sayyaf member in a law enforcement operation in Zamboanga City on Monday night.
Major Arvin Encinas, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Mindanao Command spokesman, said government forces nabbed a follower of Abu Sayyaf militant leader Furuji Indama in Barangay Mercedes, Zamboanga City around 9:30 pm.
He said the arrested Basilan-based Abu Sayyaf member identified as Arman Dala was apprehended by elements of Marine Battalion Landing Team-11 and Police Station 4.
Col. Antonio John Divinagracia, Task Force Zamboanga commander, said the arrest was made based on the warrant of arrest against Dala.
"Government troops launched the operation against Dala who has a standing arrest warrant for murder,” he said.
Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of Western Mindanao Command said the military "are firm in pursuing Abu Sayyaf militants and in encouraging other rebels to surrender to quell terrorism and deliver peace and progress in Mindanao." Robina Asido/DMS
