Alleged high-ranking NPA leader arrested in Kidapawan City

ZAMBOANGA CITY - Military and police have arrested an allegedly ranking member of the New People’s Army (NPA) in charge of collecting revolutionary taxes in several areas  in Mindanao.

Colonel Gabriel Viray III, commander of the  Army’s 901st Infantry Brigade, said arrested was Mindaley Santeses Genotiva, who uses aliases “Karla, Manang, and Liz”, the NPA’s Sub-Regional Urban Committee and Regional Tax Implementing Group head in the northern part of Cotabato Province, Southern Bukidnon, and northwestern part of Davao City.

Viray said Genotiva was arrested Wednesday during a law enforcement operation by serving warrants of arrest along the Quezon Boulevard in Kidapawan City, North Cotabato.

Viray said Genotiva has warrants of arrest for the following crimes: murder dated December 11, 2017; two-count frustrated murder dated September 22, 2017; and, five-count attempted murder.

He said the arrest warrants were issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 61 Judge Henelinda Molina-Diaz of Kidapawan City.

As confirmed by former NPA rebels, Viray said Genotiva was also responsible for forced collection schemes, which victimized businessmen down to  laborers and in charge of forcing and extorting from individuals, groups, establishments, and companies who were made to pay not less than P300,000.

He said Genotiva was one of those responsible for the violent rally in Kidapawan City in April 2016 that injured policemen.

Lieutenant General Felimon Santos, Jr., Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) chief, attributed the arrest of Genotiva to efforts of different agencies. DMS
