Alleged kidnap group leader dies, two captured in encounter with police

ZAMBOANGA CITY – An alleged leader of a kidnap-for- ransom- group (KFRG) with ties with the Abu Sayyaf Group was killed while two of his men were captured following a clash in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, a police official announced Tuesday.
Chief Supt. Billy Beltran, regional police director, said the slain kidnap leader was Iman Yasin. Captured were Aujie Moh Abdul Karim and Mura Mohammad.
Wounded was PO2 Larry Falitnang of SAF’s 84 th Special Action Company.
Beltran said the clash ensued around 3 a.m.Tuesday when Yasin resisted the government operatives who were serving him a warrant of arrest in Sitio Tarlah, Barangay Tampalan, Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay.
He said Yasin has a warrant of arrest for murder by the court in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
He said Yasin has ties with the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) and other lawless groups operating in the provinces of Zamboanga Siugay and Zamboanga del Norte.
He said the group of Yasin is also involved in extortion activities. He said an M-14 rifle, mobile phones and subversive documents of high intelligence value were recovered. DMS
