An alleged member of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)-affiliated Maute terrorist group surrendered to the authorities in Lanao del Sur on Saturday.
Chief Superintendent Graciano Mijares, police director of the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (ARRM), said the surrenderee was Camal Tawakal Marcos, 28.
Marcos, a resident of Barangay Tambac Mantapoli, Lumbatan town, turned in an M16 rifle while accompanied by Lumbatan Mayor Allan Lao, to the local police.
He was turned to the custody of the 55th Infantry Battalion for debriefing and profiling.
Mijares said the Army is finding out the extent of Marcos’s terror link with the rest of the ISIS-Maute remnants being tracked down. DMS
