Alleged NPA killed, 3 soldiers injured in Zamboanga del Sur clash

ZAMBOANGA CITY - An alleged New People’s Army member was killed while three soldiers were wounded in a 10-minute clash in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, police reported Saturday.
The police regional office said the clash occurred around 11:10 a.m. Friday in Mount Ganaan, Barangay Gasa, Lakewood municipality.
Police said troops from the Charlie Company of the Army’s 53rd Infantry Battalion were on focused military operations when they clashed with around 30 alleged NPA rebels.
The NPAs were said to belong to the Section Committee Kara of the Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee (WMRPC).
Troops recovered the body of the alleged NPA member and four rifle grenades, and ammunition for M-16 Armalite and AK-47 rifle. The wounded soldiers were extricated from the clash site, police said. DMS
