Alleged NPA killed in Sultan Kudarat

An alleged member of the New People's Army (NPA) was killed while a soldier was wounded in an encounter in Sultan Kudarat on Sunday, a military spokesman said on Monday.
Major Arvin Encinas, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Mindanao Command spokesman. said troops of the 37th Infantry Battalion were conducting combat patrol operations when they countered around 20 communist terrorists in Mt. Payong Payong, Baluan, Palimbang municipality at 5:55am.
"While scouring the encounter site, troops recovered the enemy cadaver, one M16 rifle, one bandolier, and six magazines", Encinas said.
Brig. General Wilbur Mamawag, Army's 603rd Brigade commander said "relentless operation is being conducted by our unit to thwart communist terrorist groups from sowing terror and abuses to the community."
WestMinCom chief, Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana said all joint task forces are conducting intensified operations to pin down the remaining terrorists.
“With the renewed vigor of those who are against terrorism, we are optimistic that soon enough we will be able eradicate the threats and win peace in this part of the country,” he said. Robina Asido/DMS
