Alleged NPA killed in Zamboanga del Sur

An alleged member of New People's Army (NPA) was killed in a clash with government troops in Zamboanga del Sur on Monday morning.
Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera, Army's 53rd IB commander, said troops encountered the armed men at the vicinity of Barangay Marangan, Dumingag municipality at 10:30 am.
Herrera said the clash has resulted in the killing of one alleged rebel and recovery of four high-powered firearms.
"The killed NPA was identified by one of former rebel as Bernie Nunez or known as alias 'Gogo', a member of the Main Regional Guerilla Unit (MRGU) of the Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee (WMRPC)", he said.
"Captured firearms consist of two M16 rifles one M203 grenade launcher and one AK47 assault rifle," he added.
