Alleged NPA killed in Zamboanga del Sur

An alleged member of New People's Army(NPA) was killed in a clash with government troops in Zamboanga del Sur.
Col. Leonel Nicolas, head of the 102nd Infantry Brigade, said the clash happened at the vicinity of Barangay Piwan, Midsalip municipality Sunday afternoon.
"The 25-minute firefight also resulted in the recovery of one M14 assault rifle, four anti-personnel mines, one hand grenade, one rifle grenade, magazines, and ammunition," Nicolas said.
He said the government forces are pursuing the armed men.
Maj. Gen. Generoso Ponio, Army's 1st Infantry Division commander, urged the remaining terrorists to lay down their arms and return to the folds of law.
On the other hand, Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, WestMinCom Commander, assures the people of Mindanao that the military "will keep the ball rolling for them and for the future generations." Robina Asido/DMS
