Alleged NPA leader arrested in Camarines Sur
December 6, 2020
An alleged high-ranking New People's Army (NPA) leader was arrested in a law enforcement operation in Camarines Sur on Friday morning.
Cpt. John Paul Belleza, Army's 9th Infantry Division public affairs chief said the joint elements of 83rd Infantry Battalion (83IB), 902nd Infantry Brigade and the PNP arrested Marilou Pascual Tan in Barangay San Roque, Tinambac municipality at 2:15 am.
Belleza said Tan is the secretary of Komiteng Probinsya 2 of Bicol Regional Party Committee (BRPC).
He said Tan who is considered as a high value individual (HVI) was arrested through a warrant for frustrated murder.
"Confiscated from her possession were anti-personnel mines, hand grenade, caliber .38, wires, battery, and propaganda materials," said Belleza.
Col. Jaime Abawag Jr., the newly installed Brigade Commander of 902nd Infantry Brigade expressed his gratitude to former CTG supporters who tipped off Tan's location.
"This development is a manifestation of the continuous collapse of the CTG. Their very own people are now siding with the government and exposing their own top leaders who are supposedly well insulated," he said. Robina Asido/DMS
