Alleged NPA member arrested in Misamis Oriental

Government troops captured an alleged member of New People's Army (NPA) following a clash in Misamis Oriental on Wednesday.
1Lt. Jefferson Mariano, civil military operation officer of the 58th Infantry Battalion, said captured was a 19-year-old with alias James, a member of the group who perpetrated the burning of service providers of Del Monte Philippines Inc (DMPI) last October 6 at Sitio Tanambo, Barangay Bulahan, Claveria.
Mariano said alis James was captured after a 15-minute clash between the rebels and the troops of 58th Infantry Battalion in the hinterlands of Barangay Bulahan, Claveria.
He said James, a resident of Barangay Farmbugas, Claveria, is a member of Sentro de Grabidad Edot, (Subregional Committee 1)SRC1, of North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) was recruited when he was 17.
"The NPA revealed that they burned the equipments of Del Monte Philippines Inc (DMPI) due to their persistent stand on their demand of extortion," he said.
Lt. Col. Ricky Canatoy, commanding officer of 58th IB, saidJames will be turned over to the police for the appropriate filing of cases, he said. Robina Asido/DMS
