Alleged NPA member killed in Camarines Norte: police

An alleged member of New People’s Army was killed in an encounter with the government troops in Camarines Norte on Wednesday morning. Chief Inspector Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol regional police spokesman, said a squad of troops of 9th Infantry Division were conducting combat operation when they encountered around five rebels at the vicinity of Sitio Public Brgy. Itok Capalonga, Camarines Norte around 5:30 am. Brigadier General Rolando Manalo, commander, 902nd Infantry Brigade said the troops conducted a combat operation in response to the reported presence of the armed group in the area. Calubaquib said the body of the alleged NPA member was recovered after the clash. The government troops also recovered an M16A4 rifle, three magazines with ammunitions and NPA personal belongings after the encounter. Calubaquib said the rebels withdrew going to Barangay.
