An alleged member of New People's Army (NPA) was killed in a five minute clash with government forces in Northern Samar on Monday afternoon.
Cpt. Reynaldo Aragones Jr., spokesman of the 8th Infantry Division, said the troops of 20th Infantry Battalion encountered 10 armed men at the outskirts of Brgy. P. Rebadulla, Catubig around 12:35 pm.
"The said CNTs (communist terrorists) are believed to be the same group of rebels encountered by the same 20th IB troops that transpired last April 23, 2020 of same barangay," he said.
Aragones said the firefight that lasted for about five minutes also resulted to recovery of one sub-machine gun, one magazine and four ammunition for 9mm gun.
Lt. Colonel Juan Gullem, commanding officer of 20th IB, lauded troops for the successful operation where no military casualty were recorded. Robina Asido/DMS
